Static R-value of AAC is under 1.2 per inch, which isn't so great.
Performance is much better because of the thermal mass. Effective R-value
varies by location.
In the Southeast and up the East coast, we build with 8-inch exterior walls
and no added insulation. Homeowners save up to 50% on heating and cooling
costs. In the extreme north, we sometimes see thicker walls (10" or 12").
Out west people use thicker walls because they like that adobe look.
SafeCrete thermal mass adjusted r-value is actually higher in the deserts of
Arizona than here, because of the wide temperature swing. But then again,
they need more insulation!
Please see this page, including the Oak Ridge National Laboratory study
links at bottom.

Jeanie,
Could you please give us the "actual" vs. "effective" R-value of SafeCrete?
Thanks
