Hi Geri --

>From a 'deconstruction / salvage' standpoint, we'd love you to buy salvaged
material where possible -- a nice, old ball and claw tub, for example. I
believe there are plenty of reuse centers in your area from which to choose,
so I'd point you in that direction.

Try reused paint on the walls.

Kidding.

I have another bias, but it would be pricey -- one wall (or more) of the
shower done in mosaic? Meaning ... salvaged tile / pottery bits. I don't
know whether labor time figures into sustainability (I'm only half joking),
but it would be cool, nonetheless.

Other ideas (probably covered in archives) ... skylight to maximize natural
light. Heat recapture on the shower drain. Composting / dual flush
toilets. Grey water flushing. Radiant heat on the tile floor if you can.

There was a rather interesting email trail a while back on the merits of
filing architectural glass blocks with water (for natural light). I didn't
follow all of it, but look for it -- could be a very cool effect.

Best of luck
