[Greenbuilding] winterizing

Most of the winter energy savings from replacing windows comes from the
reduction in air leakage, although there are comfort benifits from a Low
E coating. Home Energy had a good article some years back, can't put my
hands on it right now. Weatherstripping would be better than temporary
shrinkwrap plastic. Of course lowering the thermostat saves energy
(remember Jimmy Carter). How much they save depends on many variables,
and will likely only be 1-2% of the total bill, but cost little to
nothing to do. The utility company just wants to sell more energy.
