There is of course the problem that the gaskets in the standard hose
bibb were not designed for hot water.  I had to replace faucet washers
more often in the hot side.  But it was outside, so I'd let it leak for
quite a while (Tsk, Tssk.)

Aaargh! That hadn't occurred to me. Two $18 faucets are cheaper than one

$80 one.
Trust an engineer to come up with a simple and less expensive solution.
