I have: some historians pin a large portion of the decline of the Roman 
Empire squarely on the shoulders of those lead water pipes, cooking-, 
and eating utensils, which poisoned the "management" classes of the day.
I think those historians are right, and that we should be mindful of 
this lesson from history, especially since the technologies we are 
capable of developing in our age have much more potential to create 
irreparable havoc.
