I have read a lot of articles about Habitat doing green houses in the in conjunction with Southface.

There are organizations who are getting green - you might try to approach builders who are registered with the national associate of green home builders, or some of those who are getting their Energy Star certifiaction. Their websites may provide career opportunities. There are some great regional and national green conferences that may afford you the chance to find an employer - but it may require relocating.

We are a home remodeling company who is trying to become green, and have made changes, but can't find work in our area to support it - so we are looking to move our business in order to be green.

Lorraine,

Concerning working in the so called Green building industry, just like every
other trade or profession in the US unless you have a degree, certification
or license you are just going to get exploited, paid poorly and used by
those who do. Architects, builders and contractors are some of the worse
for this behavior. And it is one of the dirty little secrets they try to
keep to themselves. I recommend you obtain your electrician's license. Of
all the trades it tends to be the least abusive to its workers and the union
(IBEW) does try to take care of its members..
