I don't know any web sources. I've done the job myself with
instructions from the lumberyard, it seemed pretty simple. Some others
on this list have sprayed cellulose professionally and will probaly give
you better advice than I can.

On new jobs, a pro will usually use wet spray cellulose, which in my
opinion is beyond the reach of the DIY'er. What you want to do is
create voids to fill with a blower (a glorified vacuum cleaner) either
using sheetrock or a special screen that they use, that looks kinda like
mosquito net. Packing the cellulose is key to getting plenty of R value
out of it. You can install your sheetrock, but leave out selected
strips for the blower hose, or you can make some holes in your interior
or exterior. If you haven't wrapped the house in foam or Tyvek yet, you
could poke holes from the outside, stick the divets back in with
generous caulk, and wrap tyvek for a quick rain barrier.

If you are talking about walls, 10" is plenty, especially for mild
climates!

Hi Lawrence, I'm reading your vapor retarder posting with great
interest.

Do you by any chance have a pointer for DIY cellulose? I'm in northern
California if that makes a difference. We are still forming the
foundation but will probably install cellulose over the winter (10"
worth!).

thanks
