You might want to have a look at the "Platon" system.

It's a 24 mil, high density polyethylene waterproofing membrane that also  
provides and air gap to allow drainage.

It's used on the exterior of foundation walls,  under the growing  
medium/filter membrane of green roofs ...and  under-slab or  
under-underlayment over slabs or between-slabs:

There is a proprietary product targeting DIYers that is sold in places  
like Home Despot
for underlayment that uses the Platon membrane adhered to 2'x 2' squares  
of OSB that click together like laminate flooring:
