For the lazier amongst us checkout the Skystream wind turbine that's
aimed primarily at the residential inter-tied market:

http://www.skystreamenergy.com

It has 3.7m blades, it's quiet, rated at 18 kw, puts out 240v AC
directly and costs about $10k US installed.

(It's not that I'm that lazy, its just I don't have a spare volvo,
don't know how to wind my own armature, can't laminate my own
propeller blades etc.) Sadly I live in a sheltered valley or I'd be
really tempted.
