[Greenbuilding] eco-friendly insulation

I picked up a magazine called 'Permaculture' published out of the UK.  
In the issue it highlighted a 78 year old woman who did a complete 
remodel of her newly purchased home using every green/sustainable 
technique possible, that made sense for her.  AWESOME.

The one that caught my eye was the use of wool as a blown-in insulation 
to insulate her 50 year old house. 

Has anyone worked with wool insulation?  Pros?  Cons?  Processing?  
Theories?
