[Greenbuilding] clay paints

The flat clay paints are not scrubbable--they do not
do well in high traffic areas over time. However, I
believe that there are some versions out there that
have a glossier finish. Alternatively, you could use
a straight clay plaster/paint and cover it with an AFM
Safecoat sealing product to give it a bit of a sheen
and make it more durable/scrubbable--we did this on
one project and it seems to hold up well.

As another warning, the clay paints do not do well on
plaster walls that have more modern plaster patches
(i.e. non-natural) on them. That clay paints binds
differently to the patches and makes them stand out
much more.

Cheers,
Bill
