I like this idea very much. It would be especially useful for
urinals in public bathrooms, if the bottom of the urinal is below the
level of the sink, as is generally the case. No need for
gizmological automatic flushing, with a sensing device; just let them
flush as the sinks are used.
Thinking on that reminds me of the urinals at the Real Goods
center. They have a layer of oil in them which floats on top of the
urine. You pee, and it disappears under the oil. No odor, no water
use. Apparently the oil needs topping off every month or so, which
is very manageable.
