[Greenbuilding] replacement sash

I use a local wood window maker here in the Portland, Oregon area. He does
custom restorations as well as build new (thermopane) versions of old
windows. He doesn't do installations or scrounge for period hardware, but
that suited my purposes and pocketbook just fine. I suspect you might find
someone like that in your area. The wood he uses is mostly old growth
Douglas fir, and he was open to my supplying the wood, which I ultimately
didn't succeed in making happen. I feel mixed about using old growth Fir,
but the quantities are pretty miniscule. In the last few years I've sourced
all my construction lumber (mostly old growth 2x4s and plywood) from
dumpsters. A luxury (of time) perhaps, but it works for me.
