[Greenbuilding] Non-passive, non HRV incoming air

All, while we're on the subject of heat, humidity and
condensation, I have the ability to bring in cold outside air (not
HRV) via a minimally ducted system. If it is on, cold air drops
from a 16 feet ceiling into a well heated- by-wood stove large room
open to the rest of the house.

Designed as an experimental system for a tight house, the machine's
primary use is to dehumidify basement storage in the summer. I had
decided last year not to use it at all in the winter, for no good
able-to-be-expressed reason.

I run small humidifiers in the above very dry room but am wondering
if I run the cold air in, if I might be more successful in raising
the humidity? Rarely gets to a 50% level? Of course I will then
have to keep that wood stove going at a high level.

Yes it's physics and I don't get it. Nick? John?

Sacie
