[Greenbuilding] mold question

I am wondering if any of you can help me out with this problem...

We had a temporary leak in our tub drain one day due to some work that was
being done in the bathroom. Enough water went through the leak that water
started dripping from the kitchen lights onto the kitchen floor(below the
tub). Now I am seeing some mold spots (red/brown dots) on the kitchen
ceiling. Does this mean there is mold under the tub, above the kitchen
ceiling? And if so, would we have to rip out the kitchen ceiling to stop the
growth? This would be a major hassle for us as we are not handy that way!
