[Greenbuilding] [BULK] Re: holding tank for solar hot water

I've seen some folks talk about using a bulk liquid industrial tote with
site applied insulation. The containers are, relative to manufactured
indirect water tanks, VERY affordable (and by their nature very
durable). If your concrete is existing, you may be able to insert a
tote. I'm also guessing that folks on the list here will have a number
of suggestions for how and what insulation could/should be applied.

& I'd definitely think about a liner, with a concrete tank.
& Also, make sure it is in an area with a floor drain.
& Conventional tanks always need a drain pan, I don't know how
& you do this with concrete. Just plan on it leaking
& eventually, all tanks do.

& Hi Tom,
&
&
& Is this for culturing algae and bacteria or for human consumption/use?
& ;-)
&
& Maybe better use in your construction a PVC or better a
& PE-foil or EPDM liner.
& ( to not expose the foam to the water directly, which in your
& proposal will get penetrated by the water anyway)
&
& And if this tank has no pressure how you gonna get the hot
& water to your
&
& point(s) of use?
&
& Drainback is very foolproof, good idea.
