[Greenbuilding] BMRA Seeking Nominations for Annual Awards

Building Materials Reuse Association 2007 Awards 

The Building Materials Reuse Association (BMRA) is a
501 c3 a non-profit educational organization whose
mission is to facilitate building deconstruction and
the reuse / recycling of recovered building materials.
Each year we honor those who have made a contribution
to the field of deconstruction and reuse of building
materials. The BMRA is currently seeking nominations
for two annual awards. Nominees do not have to be BMRA
members.

1.	Deconstructor of the Year
2.	Innovative Deconstruction Project or Innovative
Reused Building Material Business Practice

These awards will be presented at the plenary session
of the 2007 Deconstruction Conference in Madison,
Wisconsin on May 14, 2007. If you are interested in
nominating someone, please read the award descriptions
and submit the required information, via email, by the
deadline below. The awards committee will base
selection on the total information package you, as the
nominator; provide, so it is important to adequately
describe the nominee’s impact or influence. Additional
attachments, such as a resume, letters of support from
others in the industry, magazine articles or other
press, are encouraged and will be considered in the
selection. See attached forms for award description
and instructions. 

Deadline for submittals: Friday, March 16, 2007.

Submission format: Electronic Only! 
Adobe Acrobat (*.pdf) preferred, Microsoft Word
(*.doc) acceptable.

Description of Categories
1. Deconstructor of the Year 
Description: This award honors that person who has
made a significant impact on the
deconstruction/building materials reuse community. The
nominee can be any person involved in deconstruction
and building materials reuse; including, but not
limited to a deconstruction practitioner, reused
building materials business owner or employee, an
academic, consultant, or a representative of
local/state/federal government. This award is intended
to recognize excellence in advancing the
deconstruction and building materials reuse field and
honors those who have made a positive impact on
deconstruction practices, markets for reused
materials, technological innovation, creative business
practices and operation, impact on regulations or
standards, or a general positive impact on the
industry. 

2. Innovative Deconstruction Project
Or Innovative Reused Building Materials 
Business Practice 
Description: This award recognizes a notable
deconstruction project or reused building materials
business practice. The nominee may be the individual
responsible or a whole organization.  This award is
intended to recognize innovation and creative
solutions to problems or the creation of opportunities
that have helped move the industry forward. 

Required Documentation:
1.Please make it clear what award you are nominating
for.
2.Letter from nominator describing nominee or
organization and reason they should receive the award.
Provide examples of accomplishments that relate to
impacts or innovation. Limit description to 2 single
spaced pages (12 point font). 
3.Complete contact information for both nominator and
nominee.

Additional Documentation:
Additional attachments that further describe the
nominee’s qualifications for the award are encouraged
and might include, but not limited to:
1.Resume (current vitae)
2.Letters from other individuals or organizations
supporting the nomination
3.Magazine, newspaper articles or other media that
help describe nominee’s impact locally or nationally.
4.Plans, drawings, photos, or other documentation that
helps describe the project.
5.Business plan or other business information that
helps describe innovation.
