Hi Nick;

I have experimented with a couple of garden sprayers.
I ended up burning out the seals on one, from over heating
it, over my woodstove. However, they worked very well
for not only showering, but also sink water uses, such as
hand washing, and dish washing.

Actually, the pressurized sprayer worked quite well for
that, due to its focused spray, which injects the water (at
low pressure) under the hair, so that it effectively rinses
from the inside, outward, using very little water to get the
job done. Careful hair washing and rinsing can be done
with little more than a cup of water. However, it is easy
to use less than a quart, by just dampening the hair with
a spray bottle, then lathering, then rinsing from a bottle
of water. The majority of waste in conventional showering
comes from continual rinse volumes. A simple shut-off
valve at the shower head (we used to promote these in
the Solar Scare of the 70s-80s) allows for the water
volume to be controled and shut off, without messing
with the temperature. By simply wetting, then shutting
off the water, then lathering, then rinsing, eliminates
most of the water usage of a conventional shower.

Any shower that does not require a drain,
simply does not rinse the dirt from the body.
