[Greenbuilding] Debunking Debunkers

So much of this thread has reached a point where facts, factoids, and
interpretations of them have unleashed a monkey pack of ideas!

Just because someone writes a book, generates a theory, and references
studies doesn't prove anything.

If this were a graduate seminar in the social sciences or hard sciences,
we'd be focusing almost entirely on the research; specifcially research
published by juried journals. And when we disagree about that research we'd
be presenting our own research, our own statistics, and roll up our sleeves
for presenting the "proof" of our claims.

Books are are often frowned upon in the sciences, mainly because they lend
ideas too easily to people who won't dig deeper into how they were
formulated.
