A red stain over a greenish yellow slab is likely to turn out a muddy
brown. I'd either seal the slab with a clear sealer, if you like the
color, or add a colored sealer from Green Building Supply to modify the
color a bit. If you have any areas that won't show, you can experiment
with their samples for $10.

Importance: Low
Hello Lawrence,
Thank you so much for your post. I really enjoyed the detail description
of
your floor project. I am trying to decide what to do with my slab (small
area: mud room + laundry room and 1.2 bath). We added a light
greenish-yellow stain to the concrete mix when the slab was poured. Now
my
contractor disappeared and I am trying to decide how to finish the slab
myself. We just rented the buffing machine last week to refinish the old
parquet floors in the bedrooms so we could rent it again and my husband
would probably be able to buff the slab.
I am intrigued with the iron-sulfate based stain, but am not sure if I
should apply it over an already "stained" slab or if I should just seal
the
slab instead.
I would very much appreciate any thoughts you might have on this.
Thank you very much for the help and happy New Year.
