[Greenbuilding] toilets, now municipal water treatment

So separating your pee (if you have a conventional flush toilet) and sprinkling it in the garden ought to be much better for everything than flushing it, yes? I would think the antibiotics, etc would break down in soil and sunlight. I don't quite understand why this issue came up, actually, as we were discussing composting toilets, and the pee all goes into the garden eventually whether you separate it or not.

I guess it's just one more reason composting toilets are better than flush toilets.

It is becoming a big concern because drugs are not removed in municipal water
treatment either, resulting in high concentrations of hormones (from birth control pills), tylenol, etc. in output water...The municipal systems were
just set up to deal with bacteria, not chemical contaminants.
