[Greenbuilding] house wraps

Perhaps it is our sea air or something else, but no one around here 
likes Tyvek or any of the other house wraps much.  I keep hearing 
stories about it breaking down---even in remodels less than 10 years 
old, they take off the siding and find the house wrap in shreds, 
obviously no longer blocking moisture.  Even the county inspector 
recommends simply using 30# felt instead.  It is certainly less 
expensive than house wrap, and is made somewhat locally (in the same state).
