I did hear there was a company in the Vancouver, B.C. area making paving
materials from old tires. I can't remember any details about it though.
A few years back 14 or 15-year old girl who lives in Prince George
invented a practical way to use certain types of pelletized plastic from
old milk jugs and such in road pavement. The City of Prince George gave
her a street to pave to test this material, and Columbia Bitulithic, one
of the big paving companies up there, did the heavy lifting, making the
experimental pavement mix and placing it.
They also awarded her a full scholarship to any engineering school in
the world she chooses to attend.
Cheers,
Chris Green.
