If this means you bought a manual defrost freezer,
then you are ahead energy-wise. Automatic
defrosting freezers use electrical power to melt
the ice, where with a manual defrost you simply
turn it off. Automatic defrosting freezers also
harm the quality of the food stored therein.

For drying your clothes, the environment would be
better off if you hang your clothes out to dry on
a clothes line. That's what we do. If it is
rainy, I have some racks and we hang the clothes
indoors.
