True, but tone, attitude, point of view make all the difference when
persuasion is useful. It would be a truly rare occasion that one would
become interested in either a product or an idea if the persuader is
perceived to be not only not-neutral but also downright abusive in their
response. The very first time I read of the gfx system I thought it quite
interesting, until I continued to read the hype; that's what turns me off.
Add to this the obvious: it is so simple to write what one thinks never
saying outloud what one thinks. SL

I think if he toned down the advertising and promotion it would make a big
difference. A lot of people on the list find him annoying because he seems
so singularly focused on promoting and selling his product. People like to
discuss, critique, and debate information, and he seems to get enormously
upset when someone even so much as questions his product.
