Yes there is a lot of progress that could be made using greener finishes
inside hospitals. They are more and more concerned with the look and
feel of the interior, for example many of the hospitals I work in have a
lobby that would make many luxury hotels jealous. Think comfortable
chairs, daylight, live piano music and a handy coffee bar complete with
healthy snacks, right next to the fountain.

Low outgassing materials and pleasant public art would sure beat those
hospital-green tile walls they used to have. I think that many
hospitals would be open to such ideas.

And another poster said they know of a LEED silver hospital, I am
flabbergasted; I didn't know that was even achievable.

Good point. I was mostly thinking about the artwork and materials
used in interior design such as carpets, etc.

What I would be concerned about are the paints used, finishes, etc.
and the whole outgassing issue.
