I did something similar, using the citrus solvent to remove glue from a 
battleship linoleum tile floor. There had been a cheap carpet glued to 
the floor... in a cafe, yet. Besides being questionable from a health 
POV, the carpet looked pretty ratty and wore out quickly.
I used the solvent,  a cabinet scraper, and single edged razor blades, 
and hot water. After 99% of the glue was removed, the floor was then 
waxed and power polished  by a contractor. When I saw the floor the next 
day, the result was well worth the effort.
I'm quite sure the linoleum was laid down in 1938, when the building was 
built, and is still in relatively good shape.

The citrus solvent wasn't a problem, but the scraped up glue meant a lot 
of extra laundry...
