Hi Lawrence and Bob,

A low-tech version of those are quilted curtains.  I found some at 
Target of all places.  They are heavy, cotton, quilted, and did a 
great job of keeping our north side dining room a bit warmer in the 
winter.  They also help with the sun in the summer, too.

I simply hung them from wooden rods with wooden rings/clips at the 
top, which makes them easy to pull open or shut as needed.
