Hi Stephen,
I'm glad to hear that some inspectors do look into air quality
issues. The little house we're buying has brand new carpet in it and
I'm sure I don't even have to mention how badly it smells. We'll be
removing it completely before we personally move anything in, but I
was commenting to my realtor and husband that I wished more
inspectors took things like air quality into account.
On top of new carpet issues, there's the fact that 100% of the houses
we looked at also had gas ranges and NO outside ventilation for the
cooktop. (Something else we'll have to fix before we can move in.)
Luckily (or maybe not luckily) I can detect problems like the carpet
smell now that I'm chemically sensitive (brought on by yet another
new carpet in a house we bought 18 years ago.)
