[Greenbuilding] Advanced framing/OVE

The real dilemma is, if you get a builder to grudgingly go along with
2x6 @ 24", for example, you can pretty much count on the process getting
undermined by inattention to the big picture: you'll end up with 5-stud
corners, triple king studs on all your windows, etc. One job I was
loosely affiliated with, there were a bunch of big windows that were
only 8 or 10 inches off the floor. The builders just filled in the
entire space with 2x6's on flat (on perhaps 5 windows). This in a house
that was ultimately Icynened, so it would have been easy insulating it
tightly. I didn't see it coming until it was far too far along...
This by builders who I think would have liked to do the right thing, but
getting everyone on the crew up to speed is tricky, things move fast and
precedent rules the day.
