What are the opinions out there as to the effect of different sheething
thicknesses? Is it worth it to increase thickness as a way to offset
builders concerns with using 24 oc walls?
>>>
we've been using 7/16" osb @ 24" OC since dylan went electric, or so it
seems, without trauma, until last year on one project where the stuff
buckled before we could get it dried in. to straighten things out, the
carpenters filled in the cavities with so much wood, that it ended up being
a thermal bridge to energy land. bad batch of material--I dunno. 5/8"
woulda been wayyy cheaper in the long run.
recalling this is renewing my determination to try 2x4's @ 16" oc with
horizontal 2x3 runners on the inside edges, to reducing thermal bridging.
Keith's point about the mutant carpenter gene, the one that causes hyper
block-osis, is truly dominant. what's ironic is that so much of our
personnel is immigrant stock from impoverished countries where waste must be
abhorant.
and recalling this is renewing my determination to punch out another vivid
set of OVE details in sketchup, that nailbangers of other languages can
understand.
