Hmm, we heat with wood as well (supplemental is radiant floor heat) and it
is dirty. Those fine particulates leave a very fine dust layer everywhere
(I never see much dust in the off-heating season). But certainly there
shouldn't be a lot of ash. Our stove is one surrounded by ceramic and I
couldn't recommend it more highly; it radiates heat far better than any
other stove I've seen and I suspect that all the ceramic surrounded stoves
have similar value. Ours is an Austroflame, probably not readily available,
but there are others in the same category. The stove with slow moving fans
in the space high above, heats our large house very well. Last year the
radiant floor heat was never used in the main part of the house; can't say
the same for this colder winter. sacie
