The float valve was already set to its lowest level when I assembled and
installed the toilet. For it to use 1.6 gpf I would have had to increase the
water fill level in the tank, which I did not do. So as supplied the toilet
used 1.25 gallons per flush. I then added a fill cycle diverter which
reduced the flush volume to 1.00 gallons. Next I added a toilet dam, which
dropped the flush volume to 0.65 gallons. I've been led to believe that
bricks are not advised due to the grit that is assumed to slough off them
and potentially interfere with a tight seal of the flapper valve. I can't
speak to that from personal experience, having always liked the dams.
