I would like to ask everyone to look at Dome designs to understand the energy efficiency aspects of nature's design.
The shell alone reduces outer wall surface area by 22% for less energy loss through walls and roofs. The insulated envelope could be increased (maybe doubled) so that the losses are really really savings. The shell also will withstand high winds and structural damage more so than the rectangular, truss-roofed box that we design today.
Open floor plans give a free open air feeling. There are companies that design sizes that are less wasteful than ANY stick built designs for the same square footage.
Planets are spherical for a reason....air bubbles are spherical too!
