>Last I knew log home "manufacturers" were of the opinion that their homes
have great R values, but that conventional testing doesn't accurately
reflect that.   I don't know if this is still the case, but one company
one of my clients used about 15 years ago used only logs from trees that
were damaged in forest fires.  It was called Satterwhite, I think and was
in Texas, East of Dallas.  They milled off the char and had perfectly
"formed" logs as a result.
