[Greenbuilding] [BULK] White roof

Ah! Finally we are talking about something to do with buildings (I've
had enough of bees lately)

There is a latex roof coating that I've used, it is essentially very
thick latex paint. It is white, and goes on with a roller. We've used
it right over shingles, should work fine over tar as well. Lasts 5-10
years, and can be recoated.

There are also aluminized tar coatings that are made for trailer roofs,
but I think the latex is a better way to go.

Subject: [BULK] [Greenbuilding] White roof
Importance: Low

Hello all,
My friend owns the top story condo in a 4-story block in Montreal...
the roof had just been re-tarred before she moved in (which is a
shame, as a green roof would have been nice). The apartment gets
swelteringly hot in summer. Can she paint the roof white to reduce the
heat? If so, does anyone know what the best paint is to do the job and
if there are any issues using this technique?
Thank you,
Gregory
