My experience with tilt windows is that they don't really provide the kind of ventilation that an open 
'regular' window does for some reason.
I put a tilt window in my bathroom and it seems as if, though the window is open, nothing happens with air 
movement and the fan has to be on to do it all anyway.
I wanted a tilt window so that I could have it open while it rained and get some ventilation then, but it 
doesn't seem to work at all well.
I have no problem leaving it open from a security standpoint though.
