[Greenbuilding] [BULK] re: Condensation on Windows

I've got some condensation too.  How much problem can this cause,
really?   What if you ignore it and let it evaporate during the day?  Do
people think it will ruin the wood in the windows?  What about a good
coat of exterior grade varnish on the bottom sash?

Mike;

So long as you keep the interior rel. humidity levels at 40% and
continue  
to use night  insulation (ie lowering the surface temperature of the  
glass) I think that condensation will be a given.

And other than wiping it, I think that condensation gutters are about
the  
only other (non-gizmological, non-blasting heated air at the glass)
means  
of dealing with it.

The gutters would be essentially the same profile as the J-trim that is

used for drywall or hung ceilings but with a longer leg on one side so  
that it can shield the horizontal surface of the bottom sash piece and  
accommodate a down-fold so that the gutter portion will hold condensate.
