Well put, Lawrence.  I'll check out the site you mentioned; I'm also 
tired of all the doom and gloom.

Having said that, I read yesterday about a new "green" developer 
planning on building in Georgetown, TX, near here.  Supposedly the 
development will be green-built, using recycled lumber or some such. 
However, the houses are still what I consider to be large, and way 
too expensive for the babyboomer generation (who from what I've 
seen), are looking for smaller, efficient housing. What about energy 
efficiency?  What about *future* maintenance costs, and the cost of 
that?

I think the greenbuilding movement, more than anything, has a chance 
of pulling us out of this SHTF scenario we've been talking about. 
But only if the houses truly ARE green, and not just "greenwashed," 
IMHO.  But I'm sure I'm "preaching to the choir" here. :-)
