[Greenbuilding] firing a roofer, preventing mold, etc

Great advice. People on this list are wise and smart.

I did call the guy. i just wanted to get his
insurance info. i told him i needed to verify
before he proceeds and to not come tomorrow.I did
talk to the insurance co's answering service. As
far as his license is concerned, he said it was
under another company name. that name is not
listed either.

Tomorrow, if i find he is covered, i'm calling
servicemaster or whoever else can get rid of this
nasty wet insulation. It is terrible work, and my
injured hand makes it harder.

As soon as he finds out the check has been
stopped, he'll be clued in a bit more than he is
now. But if he does have valid insurance, i want
to use it.

I think "the right thing" will be to pay him for
the materials if he leaves them. I think the
material he's put down on the roof can stay, with
some corrections to the flashing. But his time
can compensate me for mine--and my family's
inconvenience. We had to move everything from the
upstairs, for example. I was actually prepared to
pay this guy a lot more than the going rate
because i wanted it done right. He can't even
tarp a roof properly--not just once, but twice.

I am an overly dedicated teacher, so i am going
in tomorrow. But my neighbor the large police
officer will be at home, and my wife will be
ready to call 911.

Now i'm going up to do some more work on the tarps.

thanks again. I have high hopes of an insurance
claim and not getting screwed too bad on this one.
