We had a similarly sized cabin, self built and tight and well insulated.
The single woodstove in the lower area served the upstairs as well.  Heat
rose in the stair 'well' area and nicely heated the upstairs.  In the winter
we used a thick comforter as a floor to ceiling curtain to cordon off our
bed, opened the windows and slept well under down and in a very frosty
environment.  Was great.  Sacie

Actually put a hole in the floor upstairs so the heat could rise through it,
but never used it.
