[Greenbuilding] finishes for wood windows

I'm looking for some finish options (inside and out- natural wood  
interior, 'painted' exterior) for some new wood windows I'm  
installing- natural/green, long lasting, relatively low maintenance,  
etc. etc.  I really like using natural oils with wood, and I though I  
found just what I was looking for with linseed oil paint until I read  
that the linseed oil can negatively effect the silicon seal used in  
insulated glass.  Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
