An entry for September 4th on the earth architecture page shows a
proposed wattle and daub earthen dome to be called the Citizen's
Initiative Pavillion, or El Faro. This 3-story high dome, designed by
architect Ricardo Higueras, is designed for the Zaragoza Expo 2008.
This International Expo focuses on Water and Sustainable Development.
Zaragosa is in Spain.
Dome shaped wattle and daub was one of our earliest forms of earthen
shelter construction, one which is still used in a few places in Africa,
while the engineering and technical challenges which are surely part of
designing a dome this size are as modern as you can get.
So the circle is unbroken...
An interesting building with an interesting teapot-like shape, and the
model looks like free-form ceramic art.

Addenddum:
It appears that the walls will be insulated with straw bales in the core.
