Wow, that is expensive.  I used a cheaper T5 fixture from Day-Brite

Probably $20 a fixture.  Hang it under the cabinet, then place a piece of wood trim in front of it to block glare and make it totally indirect.  These are very efficient lamps, and among the tiniest cross section of fixture you'll find under $200.

We will be putting in direct/indirect lighting fixtures (hybrid mix of
up and down lighting) into a project and was quoted $120-$200 per lineal
ft. Heck, that's the cost of cabinets. Does anyone know of good online
design resources for DIY fluorescent fixtures?
