     Ah, that's just the confusion I was trying to avoid.  I should 
have said "half of my armspan", if you're thinking of me with arms 
horizontal and measuring hand-to-hand.

     My paces, conveniently, are a yard long, and if I stretch a bit I 
can make them come to a meter.  I'm 6' 2".
