Hi, Gary--

Cob is just clay, sand, straw and water. Good for mass wall, but  
probably wouldn't make a suitable finish plaster.

If you apply lime plaster, it has some ability to flex and might not  
crack over a joint. The joint should be filled so there is no gaposis.
