[Greenbuilding] waterless urinals

Stephen,

I have personally had this problem with my Duravit McDry, but it
occurred right at the junction of the fixture and the drain line. I
suspect that this happened because the line doesn't pitch for 4"-5"
and that was enough level area for the waste to stagnate. This may
not have been an issue if there was more usage to the fixture which
might have kept the waste moving though, rather than giving it a
chance to crystallize, me being the only user and being pretty
partial to the great outdoors. I've eliminated the problem (and the
accompanying odor issues) by flushing the system more often than
Duravit suggests for routine maintenance which is a hassle and a
waste of the sealing fluid, but wotta ya gonna do? Would have been
nice if the rough-in specs called for a slight pitch. In retrospect,
it seems pretty logical.

Eric
