[Greenbuilding] Low VOC floor stain?

Kirsten,

If you mean just a clear finish, and they want a glossy finish then AFM
Polyureseal is an old tried-and-true option. We've been testing a new
product called Vermont Naturals--made from whey, around 150g/l VOCs, and
pretty clean of other contaminants. Check
http://www.vermontnaturalcoatings.com/. So far tests look good.

For the purest, safest, old fashioned finish, Tung Oil is great, made from
Chinawood nut, but takes several coats and periodic touchup coats.

Osmo Polyx Oil is very popular, in part b/c it's patch repairable, gives a
very natural looking finish, EU says it's safe for kids toys, although it's
got a relatively high VOC content compared to other green products.

If you want to add color stain, there are several, some of which tandem with
the clear finishes, including the Osmo Polyx and their Pro Color Oil and
Transparent Finish; AFM's DuroStain; and SoyStain with AcriSoy.

And Bioshields got a slew of options.

Good luck,

Does any one have one that they have actually used and seen how it wears?
This client has young kids. I had suggested AFM either Acriglaze or
Polyureseal. I like the Bioshield Hardoil Wax, but the place I have used it
is light traffic, so I am worried that recommendation would bite me in the
butt.
