After having the good fortune to meet architect Lloyd Unsell Jr, a champion
of the University of Maryland Solar Decathlon team, I paid a visit to the
Leaf House exhibit website and learned a little about their liquid desiccant
system, used for dehumidification. See:
http://www.solarteam.org/page.php?id=641
However there is precious little info on the system's performance--surface
area, volume of fluids, rate of flow, reduction of humidity, etc.
There was no comment whatsoever on the heat source that was used to
reconcentrate the calcium chloride desiccant at the end of its absorbtion
cycle. It made me wonder if this was a potential use for surplus heat
created in summertime by solar thermal collectors for space heating.
Anyone pondered over this before?
