[Greenbuilding] Vertical glass vs. sloped glass

If I may throw my 2 cents in...

We built our "envelope" house 22 years ago (it's great) in the
south-central Colorado mountains. The south wall was built with
vertical glazing, and it has worked well. Plenty of heat enters the
sunspace/solarium in the winter; no problem with leaks; we don't have
to brush snow or ice off of it, etc. Cost-benefit = no brainer. Go
with vertical.

Sloping glass can work, but it also introduces a host of
problems which must be addressed. All the people I have talked to
who actually built and lived behind both types have recommended
vertical glass.(snip)

We added a sloped glazing sunspace to our house. It has since been
rebuilt with vertical glazing. Turns out (who knew?), that in my
particular location and climate, you get a dusting of snow almost
every single night. It covers up the sloped glazing, but not the vertical.
I got tired of having to brush it off every day, and chopping ice off when
I didn't...........N
